Dine Elderly Protection Program ( DEPP )

Purpose: To protect elders within the jurisdiction of the Navajo Nation from abuse, neglect, exploitation and maltreatment, consistent with the provisions of the Dine Elderly Protection Act.

Eligibility

  • Fifty-five (55) years of age or older.
  • Resident within the Navajo Nation
  • Meet NAAA guidelines.

Service Description

The prevention of elder abuse, neglect, exploitation and maltreatment to elders. "To strengthen and enhance comprehensive, coordinated activities for the prevention and treatment of elder abuse, neglect, exploitation and maltreatment." The (DEPP) Program has four (4) components:

  • Elders Abusive Protection
  • Legal Services Assistance
  • Health Insurance Benefits Assistance Corp.
  • Ombudsman (Long Term Care)
